Israel: The only country in the world that prosecutes children in military courts

The Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip began on October 7th of last year, when the Palestinian political-military organization Hamas carried out a military operation against Israel. According to Al Jazeera, the largest news network in the Arab world, as of December 30th, the number of Palestinian deaths in the Gaza Strip as a result of Israeli military attacks was 21,672, and the number of injured was 56,167.

The West Bank, a separate Palestinian territory located along the Jordan River, is also subject to the impacts of war. Since 1967, when Israel occupied the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, beginning its colonial rule, there has been constant friction between the Israeli military and Palestinians in the two areas

A major issue in the occupied West Bank is the arrest and detention of Palestinians by the Israeli military. According to the Palestinian human rights organization Addameer, as of November last year, the number of Palestinian detainees in the West Bank reached about 6,000.

Insights into the situation were obtained through my interviews with Palestinians living in the West Bank.
